Thriller Writers Blog Tour
Paul Anthony Associates Book Blog Tour
Welcome to the Espionage and Crime Thriller Blog Tour: A group of authors entertaining their readers with some thrilling tales of criminality and spying, and tales of political intrigue, corruption and espionage. Let's find out what they are up to. The Spymaster wants to ask some questions. Indeed, they’ve all been asked the same questions as they introduce themselves and their work. So, let’s hear what they have to say. Here's James Bruno's interview.
Q. Whereabouts do you live:A. I live in the United States.
Q. Would you describe yourself as a full time writer or do you have another job?A. I am now essentially a full-time writer.
Q. How do you spend your leisure time? A. Canoeing, shooting, hiking, but mostly writing.
Q. Do you have any particular hobbies or interests?A. Outdoors activities.
Q. Name three people you would like to entertain for dinner and why?A. DCI John O. Brennan because he seems like a real cool guy. Stevie Nicks because I love her music. Edward Snowden so I could punch him in the nose.
Q. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?A. Luang Prabang.
Q. If you had one wish, what would it be?A. That my latest book will sell a million copies.
Q. Describe yourself using only three words.A. Self-reliant, focused, nonconformist.
Q. What is the difference between an espionage thriller and a crime thriller? A. The former deals with spies. The latter deals with cops.
Q. Are you currently published or do you have a ‘work in action’ you can tell us about?A. Four published novels. The first three have all been Amazon paid bestsellers, including #1 in Political Fiction and #1 in Spy Stories. The fourth, Havana Queen, just came out. A fifth book, nonfiction, will be published soon. My agent also represents the works of Stieg Larsson ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"). I have been featured on NBC's Today Show, Sirius XM Radio, and in The Washington Post, Huffington Post, Christian Science Monitor and other national and international media. The Castro propaganda machine recently denounced me as "a military intelligence agent" and my latest thriller, Havana Queen, as a "subversive act against the Cuban government." That kind of publicity is golden for an author.
Q. Tell us about your work and what influenced you to write in this exciting genre?A. I write political/espionage thrillers. If you had any illusions that your government is manned with competent, bright, judicious officials who have your best interests at heart, you're wrong. Twenty-five years in the federal government showed me otherwise. Regularly, I faced situations which made me say, "Fiction can't rival this." So, I cut short my diplomatic career to have more fun writing stories which encompass the chicanery and fecklessness of government. If you thought Washington was out of control, then don't read my books. They'll only confirm your worst fears about how things are done in America's capital.
Q. Do you have a particular character that figures consistently or are you in the stage of developing a lead character?A. My first three thrillers are stand-alone works with very different plots and a different cast of characters. Havana Queen, my latest, is the first of a series. I decided to do a series in response to growing demand from fans that I do so.
Q. As a writer, what is the most difficult obstacle to overcome?A. Getting away from promotion/marketing and hunkering down to writing.
Q. Where can we find out more about your work? A. James Bruno at Amazon James Bruno's Website Q. And where can we follow and support you on social media sites?A.
James Bruno at LinkedIn
