Perfection - you captured EXACTLY someone I can hardly stand to look at anymore. I am not ashamed to be American, I am mad as hell. Drove past The Kennedy Center recently and had no words. I remember seeing an excellent performance of Les Miserable there once - now I just want to fight hard to get everything back that we have lost. Rubio will remain a symbol of what happens when you lose your soul. I see Alfred Von Ribbentrop when I see Rubio and we all know what happened to him.

The best that can be said about Marco Rubio and Mike Waltz is that they know better, and the fate of NSC and State would be immeasurably worse if they were in the hands of others in Trump's corrupt and morally depraved circle. Let that be their epitaph.

Rubio well never get back his middle of the road place in the Republican Party: he's so far down the fascism worm hole he will never crawl away from it.

So Well written. Painful. Especially painful from someone that lived many years in Foggy Bottom. State was always a shining star in my opinion of all the many agencies. You grow in DC and State is revered. Rubio’s soul has gone. You see it, you know it. There is almost nothing there. My Sister worked at State for years in an Admin role but was so proud to do so. She insisted I join the State Department Federal Credit Union and she and are still members 35 years later. All of what is going on is painful especially those of us whose families were Federal employees. Celebrating my Mom’s 90th I put together pics of my Mom and Hillary Clinton- great memories that to me over shadow what is happening now!

Al Gore revamped government, making it stronger, tighter and less costly. He can be compared to a brain surgeon in contrast to these barbarians who are veritable butchers. Sadly, too many Americans have been brainwashed into believing that "government is the problem," as falsely stated by Reagan. Americans need to familiarize themselves with Michael Lewis's informative book, "Who is Government?" He came away stunned by the rich talent and dedication of federal workers.

There is a recent clip of him sounding so powerful knocking down this admin. Talk about pedigree Gore has it. I listened to him then immediately looked up his age and thought oh 77- guess not. On your RUBIO Post looked up my favorites- Warren Christopher, Heinz, Clinton of Course, Rusk , Vance and Albright.

I think he was always playing the angles and advancing the long-term Republican agenda of screwing the little people and further enriching the hell out of the already rich while advancing his own career and cloaking it all in the usual self-righteous Republican smokescreen of responsible governance. It was forever a mass of lies with lots and lots of opportunistic machinations and bad-faith political ops like this little example of how Republicans make it impossible to help out vulnerable populations in our inconceivably wealthy society ...

Great article! I hope someone forwards it to him and he feels something similar to remorse…if he still can.

Reagan a "principled president?" Please. Elected after his advisors - likely w/his blessing, if not, in keeping with plausible deniability - made a deal with the Iranians to retain hostages. See his speeches in Philadelphia, Mississippi - "pandering" is a charitable description. And Iran/contra? No way he didn't approve that one. His main principle was same as Drumpf's - obeisant compliance with his handler's demands.

Rubio has never been staunchly principled. He has always been a bottom feeding opportunist. It should also be noted that Marco’s parents were not citizens when he was born. Under the current preferred policies of this administration (revocation of birthright citizenship) he is not a citizen and is subject to immediate deportation. Marco has no shame. He is a coward.
