News you need to know from an exiled national security Fed, MSM journalist & fugitive hunter
Welcome to “Dispatches From Exile.” I’m an Amazon bestselling thriller writer, journalist, ex-U.S. diplomat and military intelligence official. I’ve appeared on CNN, NPR, Fox, SiriusXM, BBC and other broadcast media. I’ve been a contributor to Washington Monthly and POLITICO. My articles also have been featured in HuffPost, RealClearPolitics, Cook Report, The Week and other publications. I was a Foreign Service officer for 23 years, mostly abroad. I’ve served in a Secret Service presidential protective detail, been seized and incarcerated twice by bad guys overseas and denounced by the Cuban government because they didn’t like my novel, “Havana Queen.” At the request of an FBI-led task force, I spent several years, including overseas, searching for a Ten Most Wanted mass murderer; I was principal narrator in an hour-long CNN special on the case. As an exile from my former professions, I have broken the official and editorial chains and can now comment as I wish on national security, politics and society. (One caveat though: I must vet my stuff through U.S. government censors to make sure I don’t spill any secrets.) A proud graduate of the Naval War College, Columbia & GWU.
